It’s that time of year…
When we set our sights on the upcoming season while savoring the final performances of the current one. While we often announce the new season in April, this year we will make the announcement on June 1 at the inaugural Annual Director’s Dinner. Members, Donors, and Founders who are eligible will receive their invitations to the dinner soon. The following day, a public announcement will be made and Founders, Executive Director’s Circle, Ambassadors, and Members will enjoy an exclusive pre-sale window until June 26, 2023.
I don’t want to leave you entirely in the dark about what’s coming, so here are a few clues:
» Next year will see the return of international touring orchestras in force, with world-class soloists and conductors. In fact, the entirety of the classical music series will resemble its pre-pandemic form, and old-fashioned subscriptions will be available.
» Winter time will see the 3rd edition of the Jazz at Naz Festival. Wildly popular since its inception, our festival is becoming one of the most important of its kind on the West Coast. It will feature victory laps from a few of the greatest names in music from the past half-century.
» 2023-24 will be a strong year for dance, including Opening Night on September 30, 2023. Also in the season will be the Soraya debut of one of ballet’s greatest stars.
» We’re excited to roll out the 2023 Holiday celebrations, including both some long-time traditions as well as a few new ones.
» The Soraya Signature Series will bring original and one-of-a-kind performances to the stage, and will include some important milestone performances, including a major community commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the Northridge Earthquake on January 17, 2024.
» As usual, The Soraya’s commitment to our Spanish-speaking audiences will be strong.
» Across the entire season, we will be celebrating women artists in every genre, and specifically 10 of the most influential women in the performing arts, a roster of geniuses like none seen in one place before.
A little more about Membership…
Please renew or join now. Each year, based on feedback, we refine the offerings. This year we’ve also adjusted the fees. The entry-level Bronze Membership will be $96, and the Silver level price has been significantly reduced to $360, the best value when considering all the benefits which include invitations to special events, a get-your-seat guarantee during the pre-sale period, and a 20% discount on all tickets. We’re also adding a Members Only seating section this year for Silver level and above. What’s so special about Membership? The benefits are good all year long.
A little bit more about timeline: Membership and package sales will continue throughout June and July, and single tickets will be on sale to the public starting August 11. There are a few reasons for this later date, one of which is especially important— we’re developing a new website that will be fully integrated with the new ticketing system, allowing patrons a one-stop experience for all their Soraya needs. The website will launch in August, along with single tickets for the upcoming season. Also in August, we’ll announce an important gala celebration in April of 2024, and possibly a few additional performances for the 2023-24 season.
In the past few months, the long journey to recovery, post-pandemic, has accelerated. We’re thrilled to see attendance approach previous levels. In fact, the past few weeks have featured some Soraya all-time highlights, including the sold-out debut of double-Grammy winner Samara Joy. But we still have a distance to go, and we’re counting on you to commit early — secure your Membership now and your performances in June. Payment plans are available for those who join early.
In its short life, The Soraya has persevered through a lot of change. We stand more confident than ever. We know the Valley and surrounding communities deserve a first-rate performing arts center, and we rely on you to join us again. Thank you.
