Soraya Stories

Director Selects: Nochebuena now available on demand

By Thor Steingraber

For the ninth consecutive year Ballet Folklórico de Los Ángeles joined The Soraya for a beloved holiday tradition. Nochebuena is a vibrant and energetic celebration of Christmas and New Year traditions, featuring celebrations from Mexico. Thousands of Valley residents join us each December, and increasingly, families of every faith and nationality have discovered the joy of these performances. Nochebuena is for everyone who enjoys music and dance.

Now, the Nochebuena en Casa filmed version is available worldwide on demand, from December 20-27. It includes 40 minutes of highlights from the live stage show as well as brief interviews with creator and choreographer Kareli Montoya and singer Camila Fernández, each who share insights about their personal holiday traditions. Camila is the third generation of performers in her family. Her grandfather, Vicente Fernández, is credited for bringing Mexican music to the world, and in the video, she sings his hit “Volver Volver.”

We are proud to grow this Soraya tradition to an ever-broader audience, and to uplift great music, dance, and culture from Mexico.

Gratefully,
