The most frequent question I am asked is “Where do you find all of the artists that you bring to The Soraya?” The answer is multifaceted, and I certainly don’t do it alone. However one thing that makes the job easier is the vast amount of online content, and there are certain sites that have become especially reliable in this regard.
National Public Radio (NPR) produces a series of brief online concerts from their headquarters in Washington DC known as the Tiny Desk Concerts. What started as a small idea has turned into a huge national phenomenon, becoming a rite of passage for emerging musicians, and a great honor for even the most veteran artist to be invited.
At The Soraya, we follow Tiny Desk Concerts closely. As an introduction to this year’s artists, we have culled through the vast catalog at NPR to provide you hours of listening, and a terrific opportunity to become acquainted with the broad array of vastly talented musicians who will appear on our stage in the coming months.
Gratefully,
