Current Employment Opportunities
Full Time
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Campus Development Programs, with a dotted-line reporting to The Soraya’s Executive and Artistic Director. This position works closely with the cross-departmental Fundraising team at The Soraya to raise funds for The Soraya’s various programs, including Arts Education, performances, and general support. Working closely with the Executive and Artistic Director, Senior Director of Development for the Curb College, and Central Development colleagues, the incumbent orchestrates initiatives aimed at identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and stewarding donors. Additionally, they amplify major fundraising and donor relations endeavors by identifying new prospects whose philanthropic inclinations align with The Soraya’s mission and vision. Fundraising activities also encompass soliciting foundation grants, securing annual performance sponsorships, and working with donors and their advisors to secure planned gifts.
Under the direction of the Director of Audience Services, the House Manager serves as the primary Front-of-House staff member for all Soraya presented and rented events. The House Manager upholds the highest level of customer service for the patrons of The Soraya, ensuring every patron has a ‘first-class’ experience from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave the venue. The House Manager directly oversees the pool of hourly customer service staff, made up mostly of CSUN students, providing leadership and training to the staff ensuring consistent customer service quality. The House Manager has a vital impact on every patron that attends a performance at The Soraya and is an important conduit of the organization’s priority of service.
Temporary Hourly/Part-Time Positions
Production
Under general supervision of the Technical Director and Assistant Technical Directors, the Soraya Stage Technician works events and performances at The Soraya and Plaza Del Sol on an as-needed basis. Stage Technicians work to maintain the integrity, condition, and value of the facilities as a world-class performing arts center for the campus and larger community.
Stage Technician – Specialist (Pool)
Under the oversight of the Technical Director and Assistant Technical Directors, the Stage Technician – Specialist supports events and performances at The Soraya and Plaza Del Sol on an as-needed basis. The incumbent works to maintain the integrity, condition, and value of the facilities as a world-class performing arts center for the campus and the larger community.
Production Hospitality Crew Lead
Under general supervision of the Hospitality Liaison, the Production Hospitality Crew Lead assists in creating an exemplary backstage experience for The Soraya’s artists. The Hospitality Crew Lead sets up and maintains catering and backstage hospitality for Artist’s needs, observing all dietary restrictions and allergy considerations.
Audience Services & Ticket Office
Customer Service Worker – Usher/Backstage
Under general supervision, the Customer Service Worker-Usher/Backstage provides customer service support for events at the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya) and other campus theaters supported by The Soraya such as the Plaza del Sol Performance Hall. Customer Service Workers interact with artists, renters, guests, and audiences in accordance with various aspects of public convening at The Soraya including, but not limited to, security, safety, parking, venue access, ticketing and seating, VIP protocols, providing exit instructions in the event of an emergency, and other policies and procedures.
Audience Service Worker – Ticket Office
Under the Supervision of The Soraya’s Ticket Office Supervisor, the Audience Service Worker-Ticket Office assists the in the sale of tickets to the public for performances held in the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya), the Plaza del Sol (PdS) as well as other Campus Theatres such as The Experimental Theatre.
