How To Book a Rental
- Before contacting The Soraya, determine which space is best for your event (see above) and review the Rate Card.
- Contact Rentals Associate to determine calendar availability.
- Complete Rental Intake Form (see above).
- Work with Rentals Associate to complete a pre-production meeting and create a cost estimate.
- To confirm the date, sign contract and remit 50% non-refundable deposit.
Please note:
- BOOKING: Bookings for the upcoming year, July 1 – August 1, can be requested starting April 1 of each year. The calendar fills up quickly, and The Soraya reserves the right to refuse inquiries less than 30 days prior to events.
- LABOR OVERTIME: Event Cost Estimate will indicate overtime costs where applicable. Overtime is defined as work in excess of forty (40) hours in a work week and is calculated at 1.5 times the standard Day, Evening, and Overnight rates. A work week begins at 12:01 AM on Sunday and ends at 12:00 midnight the following Saturday. CSUN paid holidays are counted as time worked for the purposes of Overtime calculations. Overtime labor rates are automatically applied in the following situations.

- Rentals booked within less than 30 days from the event;
- Use of the facilities on Mondays (including load-in/out and rehearsals);
- Use of the facilities on YSNC high-density time periods and YSNC blackout dates (including load-in/out and rehearsals).

- INSURANCE: Renters must provide a certificate of insurance (COI) stating that there is Liability Insurance presently in effect for the renter with a combined single limit of not less than $2,000,000 per occurrence and $4,000,000 aggregate, and proof of Worker’s Compensation. - TICKETING: The Soraya’s Ticketing Office is the exclusive ticketing outlet for all ticketed rentals at The Soraya and Plaza del Sol Performance Hall and does not offer consignment ticketing. Tickets are placed on sale through The Soraya’s online sales website (tickets.thesoraya.org) as well as at The Soraya’s Ticket Office during Ticket Office hours. The signed Facility Use Rental Agreement and Event Deposit must be returned prior to initiating a ticket build.
- MARKETING & PROMOTIONS: Generally, The Soraya is unable to assist with rental event promotion except in cases where a paid marketing package is negotiated as part of the rental.
- CATERING: Renters contract separately with food and beverage provider. For additional information on the university’s preferred caterer, visit The Orchard Conference Center and Catering. Renters may also request a third-party caterer. All third-party catering is subject to approval. Contact a Rentals Associate for more information.
- PARKING: Parking for The Soraya and Plaza del Sol Performance Hall is located on the CSUN campus and governed by CSUN parking policies. The Soraya works with renters to ensure the best parking and arrivals experience for rental guests and audiences.
- PAYMENT: Renter must provide final payment prior to the event. Renter will not be allowed on premises until final payment is made.
- SETTLEMENT: The Soraya will provide the final settlement within 30 days after the event.
