Great vocalists backed by a big band sound have been a Soraya signature for many years. There is no venue in Los Angeles that more regularly puts together a full section of strings and brass along with soaring vocals, whether it be tributes to great artists like Henry Mancini, Frank Sinatra, and Linda Ronstadt, or Broadway blowouts with artists such as Tyne Daly, Joshua Henry, Javier Munoz, Reeve Carney, and Megan Hilty.
With the arrival on the scene of the Pacific Jazz Orchestra, under the leadership of Christopher Walden, we’ve taken it to the next level. Their sold out performance last spring with Aaron Tveit was a high water mark, and we will create another triumph on Feb. 1 with Broadway mega-star Eva Noblezada. In this video interview, conducted in Los Angeles and New York, the two artists reveal their thoughts and vision for their upcoming concert.
Gratefully,

About Director Selects
The Director Selects series is a sequence of interviews shared by The Soraya on Fridays throughout the year. Each features an exclusive interview with an artist who will perform in the season or a behind-the-scenes video, and a note from Executive and Artistic Director Thor Steingraber. All is done to give patrons a look behind-the-curtain so they can better understand the collaboration between the artist and The Soraya that goes into each performance.
