Event details
“El Mejor Mariachi del Mundo” (“The World’s Best Mariachi”) returns for El Grito, the first Mexican civic celebration at The Soraya. El Grito, or “the cry,” came from a priest in the village of Dolores in 1810 when he rang a bell to call people to rise against the Spanish crown and fight for independence. Every year, the famous battle cry is celebrated to kick off Mexican Independence Day on Sept 16. Founded in 1897, Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán has collaborated with numerous musical icons including Linda Ronstadt, Juan Gabriel, and Luis Miguel.
